O’Dome Prep Comes Down to Wire

The Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center is nearing completion after nearly nine months of renovations.  Crews are still hard at work trying to finish in time for Fall Commencement on Friday and Saturday.

What’s New

The $64.5 million project features a variety of new interior features, in addition to a new entrance location.  The renovation of the 36 year old arena began back in late March.  Some of the new interior features include new seating, new locker rooms, a new center-hung scoreboard, a club-level for premium ticket holders, and new concessions.

Anticipation is high for new seats in the facility which will now feature chair back seating.  The O’Dome’s new seating will, however, reduce its capacity by nearly 1,000.

Back at the Home Dome

The Gators will be back in the O’Dome as early as next week.  The men’s basketball team will play their first game in the newly renovated arena Wednesday, December 21 against Arkansas-Little Rock.  The women’s team will play the following Wednesday, December 28 against Southeastern Louisiana.
