The Florida Lacrosse team will be taking on a new journey as they move to the American Athletic Conference.
The team will be packing up their bags once again, moving from the Big East Conference to the AAC. The American Athletic Conference Commissioner recently announced the move that Lacrosse will be apart of the conference. Women’s Lacrosse enters the AAC being added as the 22nd sport for the 2019 school year.
This is not the first time the Gators have moved conferences, they have been apart of three other big conferences.
The Gators have frequently moved to different conferences, but that does not stop their drive for achieving at a higher level. This Florida Lacrosse team is a special team, due to the fact that they have earned a lot of respect. This program and coaching staff has achieved lot of things throughout their eight years as a sport in Florida.

Head Coach O’Leary Thoughts
The team and coaching staff are an amazing program, starting with their head coach, Amanda O’Leary. Coach O’Leary feels this is going to be a good season when entering the AAC play.
O’Leary says “The American Athletic Conference will be a great new challenge for this program. We faced a high level of competition in the BIG EAST, and thrilled to carry that over into The American Conference. We’re very excited to build on the tradition of success we’ve created in the past eight years.” Although the team enters a new conference, it’s nothing that they cant handle. Many of the teams that are in entering the conference themselves the Gators have seen and defeated them.
Entering this conference comes with a lot of new things being added to the lacrosse world. The conference will hold its first women’s lacrosse championship in 2019. The AAC will also be able to receive a bid straight to the NCAA Championship.
The Gators are hoping to take a big bite out of all the competition they see and play for a NCAA championship.
