Gainesville/Eastside Look to Advance to Regional Finals

The regional semifinals for high school girls’ basketball begin tonight. Two local teams will take the court tonight.

Gainesville vs. Nease

Gainesville High School is on the road tonight to face Nease. The Gainesville Hurricanes are 22-7 on the season. Gainesville beat St. Augustine in the regional quarterfinals with a final score of 72-46. Leaundranae Young is the team’s leading scorer, earning an average of 18.9 points per game.

The Nease Panthers hold a 25-3 record. Nease is coming off a 67-18 win against Forest. The Panthers leading scorer is Camille Hobby. Hobby scores an average of 14.1 points per game.

This matchup is set for 7 p.m.

Eastside vs. Ponte Vedra

The Eastside Rams will face off against the Ponte Vedra Sharks tonight. The Rams are 17-9 this season. Eastside defeated Menendez in the quarterfinals with a final score of 32-29.

The Ponte Vedra Sharks have a record of 21-5. Ponte Vedra beat Belleview by a score of 55-43.

This matchup is set for 7 p.m.
