Girls Place, a local non-profit organization for girls, will honor a long-time community leader today as it names its sports complex after the late C. B. Daniel. The sports complex, including all the baseball fields and the pavillion will be dedicated and will have a permanent memorial sign is his honor. Executive Director Renae Clements says this is significant because of what he's accomplished for girls in the community. Over 20 years ago, in Alachua County, there was a recreational facility for boys. But Clements says Daniel was responsible for establishing an equal facility for girls. The ceremony honoring the late C. B. Daniel will take place today at the complex, at 4:30 PM.
