Oklahoma Up Against Virginia Tech

The Oklahoma Sooners hit the road and travel to Blacksburg to face the No. 4 seeded Virginia Tech Hokies.

Both teams are looking to advance to the next stage and ultimately Omaha.

The Hokies lead the Sooners in the series all-time, 2-1.

Oklahoma Moves on After Defeating Florida

The Sooners’ hopes for glory were looking dire when the rain set in at Condron Park on Monday.

They were, however, not going out without a fight.

When the rain subsided, the Sooners exploded for four runs in the top of the seventh inning.

They defeated Florida 5-4.

Virginia Tech Dominates Columbia

The Hokies routed Columbia University in their last two games.

In their first matchup, Virginia Tech outscored Columbia 24-4.

They concluded things the next day, again beating Columbia 7-2.

Sooner’s Offense Looks to Get Bats Rolling

Outfielder Tanner Treadway leads the Sooners at the plate with a batting average of .367 and 92 hits on the season.

Behind him is freshman outfielder John Spikerman and red-shirt sophomore infielder Peyton Graham, batting .348 and .339

The Sooners cannot get backed up again like against Florida and should look to score some runs early on.

Oklahoma Pitching Standing Strong

Assuming both teams are at full strength, the Sooners are likely to start left-hander Jake Bennet on the mound, according to Sports Illustrated.

Bennet recorded his first save of the season against the Gators on Monday.

Throughout the season, Bennet has held on to an 8-3 record in 16 starts.

Hokies at Home a Scary Sight

Virginia Tech has only dropped five games so far this season at English Field in Blacksburg.

Facing this team in their own venue should be a tough task for any team in college baseball.

The Hokies are also not afraid to swing the bat.

Eight of their batters are hitting above .300.

They are led by outfielder Jack Hurley, with a batting average of a hefty .380.
