Cold fronts are getting much closer and tropical moisture is also on the move, but the end result will be a fairly typical August forecast for this time of year and this part of the country. The upcoming work week will include episodes of afternoon thunderstorms, preceded or followed by hot and humid conditions. A series of cold fronts continue to slide just to our north, allowing bouts of slightly cooler air aloft to sneak in. This promotes instability and rising air, which usually leads to thunderstorm development. A wave or two of tropical moisture will be surging in from the Gulf of Mexico over the coming days, and this keep rain chances somewhat elevated during the beginning and end of the work week.
