Tropical Depression Nine formed in the Central Atlantic late Monday night, and the National Hurricane Center will likely be naming Tropical Storm Isaac later today. The soon-to-be-storm was located approximately 1000 miles ESE of San Juan, Puerto Rico and was moving west at 20mph. Confidence is high that TD9 will strengthen into a hurricane and move into the eastern Caribbean by the end of the week. Forecast confidence in the strength and track trails off, though, thereafter as the storm likely encounters interference from the islands of Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, and possibly Jamaica over the weekend. All interests along the Gulf Coast, the State of Florida, and the East Coast of the U.S. should closely monitor future forecasts for the latest on what becomes of soon-to-be Tropical Storm Isaac.
