Tropical moisture and approaching front to trigger numerous storms this weekend

Those with outdoor plans this weekend might want to keep WRUF Weather close by starting Friday.  We will help you plan around what will likely be several periods of strong thunderstorms and heavy rain, especially on Friday and then again Sunday.  The approach of a weak cold front will add extra lift and instability to the atmosphere on Friday, and when the sea breezes interact with the front, numerous to widespread thunderstorms are expected to form.  After a lull in storm coverage Saturday, a second and stronger front is projected to arrive sometime during the day on Sunday.  Much like it’s predecessors, the front will not move through Florida.  Rather, it will stall just to our north and west, keeping the chances for thunderstorms going through early next week.  We will update this post with more specifics on the storms and the projected times when they will be be arriving as we approach the coming weekend.

Urgent severe weather updates are available @WRUFWeather on Twitter, Florida’s 89.1 WUFT-FM, or on WRUF-TV (Cox 6 or over the air on 10.1).
