WHO WE ARE
WRUF-TV is operated as a part of the suite of media properties at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism & Communications. With a state of the art high definition digital over the air signal WRUF-TV is broadcast on channel 10 on FCC television license WRUF-LD in a 30-45 mile radius covering a population of more than 250,000. In addition WRUF-TV is broadcast on Cox cable channel 6 in Gainesville and Alachua county serving more than 50,000 households via cable.
“Weather is Our Bottom Line” is the centerpiece of WRUF’s programming, committing the programming to the most comprehensive coverage of Gainesville, north Florida and Sunshine State weather conditions and forecasts in addition to weather outlooks and data from around the nation and world. In addition, the new innovative partnership between the College of Journalism and Communications and University Athletic Association (Gator Athletics) provides a unique look into Florida Gator athletics with special reports about the Gators and the student-athletes that make the Florida Gators so successful.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
WRUF-TV viewers should expect the television station and 24-hour a day programming to quickly become a part of their lives, serving as a consistent, high quality source for the most detailed weather information in north Florida. When severe weather threatens WRUF-TV will be there to provide viewers with instant storm information, tracking and forecasts. And, as WRUF-TV will dedicate multiple hourly updates to tropical weather there’s no better source for tropical storm and hurricane information and forecasts and how that critical information relates to life in north Florida.
