Records Broken

  • The Indians’ 22-game win streak broke the record for most consecutive wins in the American League.
  • New York Yankees Jacoby Ellsbury reached base on catcher’s interference 30 times, breaking Pete Rose’s career record.
  • Only 59 complete games were thrown among all teams, which broke the record for fewest complete games thrown.
  • Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon recorded 106 runs batted in, surpassing the previous record held by Los Angeles Angels Darin Erstad in 2000.
  • Yankees Aaron Judge hit 52 home runs, becoming the first rookie to record more than 50 in a season.
  • 6,105 home runs hit eclipsed the league home run count of 5,693 hit in 2000.
  • 40,105 strikeouts thrown broke the record for strikeouts in set last season.

Records Almost Broken

  • The Los Angeles’ Dodgers 43 wins over a 50-game stretch tied the 1912 New York Giants record.
  • 27 pinch hits by Miami Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki fell one short of tying John Vander Wal’s 1995 record.
