NBA Announces Gaming/Betting Partnership With MGM Resorts

The NBA and WNBA have made a big investment and partnered up with MGM resorts and will be alongside each other as official gambling partners.

The Future of Gambling on NBA Games

Since the Supreme Court cleared the air making sports gambling legal on May 14, the NBA has taken a leap of faith and partnered up with the MGM Resorts in Las Vegas.

During this summer many of the rookies that were drafted to NBA took part in the NBA Summer League, which is where the NBA’s new partnership is located.

This is the first big sports association that partnered up with MGM to make them their first gambling partners. Adam Silver who is the NBA commissioner, and Jim Murren the MGM chairman, announced that a commercial partnership between a gaming establishment and the NBA could and will be historic.

The Benefits

Although this seems like a good partnership the key word is “partnership”. This is the first time in sports history where a partnership like this has occurred. Therefore, there a lot of concerns and trust has to be gained in working together.

This partnership comes with the MGM having official NBA data for sports betters around the world. They will be allowed to have data for betters in every U.S. state that has legalized sports gambling.

The MGM will work with the league to detect and prevent fraud and game fixing. Many bettors will no longer be forced into the black market, and easily can make bets from their mobile device.

The price of the deal between the two was not set out for discussion. The NBA will be looking for royalties from all companies that bet on NBA games.
