The top ranked Florida Gators Baseball team begins Southeastern Conference play this weekend with a three game series against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The Gators are 16-1 and off to the best start in program history. They are riding a 14 game win streak, and a win on Friday would break the team record for consecutive victories. Florida junior catcher Mike Zunino says although the team has had early success, it can still find ways to improve.
Vanderbilt, on the other hand, has not had such a hot start to the season. They are 7-10 coming into this weekend’s series. However, they did win their last two games against Siena.
Commodores head coach Tim Corbin says there are a few reasons for his team’s less than stellar start.
Florida and Vanderbilt faced off six times last season, with the Gators winning five times including defeating Vandy in the SEC championship game and twice in the College World Series.
