Gator Women’s Hoops Upsets Nationally Ranked Kentucky
The Florida women's basketball team moves to 2-0 in SEC play after upsetting sixth ranked Kentucky 83-73 Sunday in Lexington.
Florida has now won eight in a row and this win breaks a six game losing streak against the Wildcats. Guard Jaterra Bonds led Florida with 23 points and freshman Ronni Williams posted her first double-double as a Gator with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Behind late, Kentucky fouled often and Florida made them pay, hitting 12 of 16 free throws in the final 3:40 to seal the win. It was also Florida's first win in Lexington since 2006.
The Gators are next back in action Thursday when they host Arkansas, a team that is 1-1 in league play and with only one loss on the season.
