College football, high school football, NFL, the World Series, Gator sports and more in our Friday Sports Update…

** A couple of college football games last night sees Miami crush Virginia Tech 30-6 and nationally ranked East Carolina top Connecticut 31-21.   Tonight, Oregon faces Cal, Cincinnati tangles with South Florida and BYU takes on Boise State.

** It hasn’t been a good week for Gator football.   After losing a verbal commitment earlier in the week, it loses another according to numerous reports as Georgia linebacker Adonis Thomas has re-opened his recruiting.   Another potential recruit, linebacker Tevon Coney, chose Notre Dame over Florida and Miami yesterday as well.

** In high school football last night, Eastside tops Dunnellon 31-21 and Santa Fe loses 35-28 to North Marion.   More games on tap for tonight throughout the area.

** In the NFL, Denver beats San Diego 35-21.

** The World Series resumes tonight with Game 3 in San Francisco; the Series is tied 1-1 after two games in Kansas City.

** Gator volleyball and soccer are in action at home Friday.   Volleyball is home Sunday while soccer is at LSU.
