NCAA Finishes Joker Phillips Investigation

February 20, 2015

The investigation into the alleged recruiting incident that involved former University of Florida wide receivers coach Joker Phillips has been completed by the NCAA.

The NCAA Committee on Infractions found that there was a violation made by Phillips when he contacted a potential recruit off campus before rules allowed him to do so.  However, the NCAA said because Florida suspended Phillips and ended recruitment of the athlete in question, the self imposed corrective actions made by Florida officials were appropriate and therefore no additional penalties or measures would be taken against UF.

Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley released a statement saying in part that the University Athletic Association “takes great pride in the culture of compliance it has built over the years” and that “integrity is one of the core values of our organization.”
