The career of another Florida offensive lineman ends early, Gator sports, NBA, NHL and MLB results and news and more in our Wednesday sports update.

** The career of a fourth University of Florida offensive lineman ends early because of injury.   The school announced that Rod Johnson’s career is over after he suffered a narrowing of the spinal canal after he was injured in a scrimmage earlier this month.

** The Florida softball team hosts USF today; the Gators beat the Bulls earlier this season.

** The Florida baseball team loses in 12 innings as FSU last night 4-3.   The Gators next play on the road at Mississippi State.

** Florida men’s swim coach Gregg Troy was named the SEC Coach of the Year and Caleb Dressel was named Freshman of the Year in awards handed out by the SEC.

** In Major League Baseball, Tampa Bay downs Toronto 3-2 and Miami beats Atlanta 8-2.

** In the NBA, the regular season winds down with playoff spots still up for grabs in each conference.

** The NHL playoffs begin tonight.
