** Former Gator Preston Tucker hit two homers and drove in three runs as the Houston Astros beat the Boston Red Sox 4-2 Wednesday.

** After making his big league debut against the Astros, former Gator pitcher Brian Johnson was sent back to Triple A Pawtucket by Boston.

** In MLB action Wednesday, Philadelphia tops Tampa Bay 5-4; the LA Dodgers beat Atlanta 3-1 and Miami downs Arizona.

** The U.S. men’s soccer team loses 2-1 to heavy underdog Jamaica in Gold Cup action.  The U.S. now plays Panama for third place while Jamaica plays for a championship.

** The NBA is mulling a change in its playoff format.   The league is considering a move that would not guarantee a division winner a playoff spot, instead opting to take the top eight teams strictly by record.

** The Tour de France continues with Chris Froome still in the lead; the 18th stage takes place today.
