Area High School Football Teams Advance In State Playoffs

A lot of area high school football teams advance in the state playoffs after action on Friday night.

In Region 1, Class 7A, Buchholz advances with a 36-27 win over Orlando Edgewater; the Bobcats will host Bartram Trail next week.   Also, Columbia moves on with a 42-27 win over Tallahassee Chiles; the Tigers will be at Tallahassee Lincoln next week.

In Region 2-6A, Gainesville High gets a big night from quarterback Caelan Christian who threw for 343 yards in a 42-21 at New Port Richey Mitchell; the Canes will now travel to play Ocala Vanguard next week.

In Region 1, Class 4A, Santa Fe advances with a 26-0 win over South Sumpter; the Raiders will host 11-0 Dunnellon next week.   Dunnellon advanced with a win oer Bradford County.

In Region 3 Class 1A, Fort White beats Jefferson County 14-8 to advance; they will be at Madison County next week, a team that blew out Union County Friday night.  In Region 4, Class 1A, number one Trenton downs number two Fort Meade 51-20; they’ll play Dixie County next week, a 16-13 winner over Pahokee.   Dixie County lost to Trenton during the regular season.

Eastside saw its season come to a close at 1-10 as the Rams lost at Clay.
