Gators QB Will Grier Loses NCAA Appeal

November 20, 2015

Gators quarterback Will Grier lost an appeal of his failed NCAA drug test and is to remain suspended for one calendar year, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Grier filed his appeal earlier in November and argued to have the suspension reduced so that he would be eligible to start playing again at the beginning of the 2016 season. With the denial of the appeal, Grier will have to sit out the first six games of the 2016 season. The first game he will be available to play will be the October 15, 2016 home game against Missouri.

Grier shared quarterback duties with sophomore Treon Harris during the season’s first two games, but assumed full-time responsibilities during the team’s SEC opener September 19th at Kentucky. After Grier’s suspension, Harris has led the Gators to 4-1 record and a spot in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta.
