Rays, Marlins Win In MLB; Braves Lose

The Tampa Bay Rays welcomed back injured third baseman Evan Longoria to the lineup with a 4-1 over the Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday night.  Longoria drove in a run to support a solid start from James Shields.

In other American League action, Detroit now has the lead for the first AL wild card after dropping New York 6-5.   Baltimore and Oakland are tied for the second wild card and both win, with the Orioles beating Seattle 8-7 in extra innings while Oakland pounded Los Angeles 10-4.  Minnesota downs Cleveland 7-5; Kansas City beats Chicago 5-2 and Texas downs Boston 6-3.

In the National League, Miami downs New York 4-2 using a four run fourth to get the win.   Philadelphia uses a solid start from Cole Hamels to blank Atlanta 3-0.

In other NL games, San Francisco beats St. Louis 4-2; Arizona pounds Pittsburgh 10-4; Milwaukee downs Cincinnati 3-1; San Diego beats Chicago 7-4; Washington beats Houston 3-2 and Colorado tops Los Angeles 3-1.
