Rays Sweep Angels In MLB

The red hot Tampa Bay Rays complete a road sweep of the Los Angeles Angels Sunday with an 8-3 win.   The Rays lead the American League wild card race and will start a home series with Kansas City tonight.

In other AL games, New York is five games up on Baltimore in the AL East after knocking off Boston 4-1 as Ichiro homers twice.   The O’s keep pace by beating Detroit 7-5 and they have the second wild card lead as well.   Baltimore starts a series at Texas tonight while New York is at Chicago.

The White Sox lead the AL Central by a game and a half over Detroit after losing 5-2 to Kansas City as the Royals sweep.   Texas leads the AL West by five games over Oakland; the Rangers rip Toronto 11-2 while Oakland blanks Cleveland 7-0.   Seattle beat Minnesota 5-1.

In the National League, Washington leads Atlanta by five games in the NL East; the Nats top New York 5-2 while the Braves lost at home 5-0 to Los Angeles.   Atlanta starts a big series at Washington tonight leading the NL wild card race.

Cincinnati leads the NL Central by six and a half games; the Reds nip Chicago 5-4 while second place Pittsburgh outlasts St.Louis 6-3 in 19 innings.   The Pirates lead the second wild card as well and they travel to face San Diego while the Reds visit Philadelphia.

Los Angeles leads San Francisco by a half game in the NL West; the Giants lost to San Diego 7-1  to drop out of first place; the Dodgers face San Francisco at home in a big series starting tonight.   Colorado beat Miami 3-2; Arizona downs Houston 8-1; and Philadelphia blanks Milwaukee 8-0.
