Gator Lacrosse Beats Temple in Nail Bitter

April 2, 2016

The No. 2 Florida Gators improved to 11-1 on the season after beating the Temple Owls 10-9 in a very close game at the Dizney Lacrosse Stadium. Senior defender Sydeny DuPre caused a Temple turnover with less then a minute left in the game to secure the win for the Gators. Florida Freshman Lindsey Ronbeck lead the team with three goals while Lauren Lea had two.

After a very closely contested first half, the Gators entered the locker room leading by one goal 8-7. Both the Gators and the Owls defense buckled down in the second half and made scoring difficult for the opposing team. The second half was limited to two goals from each team.

This win is the second Big East win for the Gators on the season and their 11th overall. Senior defender Sydney DuPre says Temple found ways to get past the Gators defense.

Head coach Amanda O’Leary was not pleased with the win. She says the Gators flat out got lucky this game.

The Gators next face Georgetown on Saturday, April 9 in Washington D.C.
