On Sunday, he also won the STP 500 successfully completing a sweep of the Martinsville races. Busch led 352 out of the 500 laps, including the final 173 after passing Matt Kenseth. Busch says leading as many laps as he did was really good, it was a confidence boost. The 352 lap lead was the most of any car at Martinsville since Bobby Hamilton in April of 1998. AJ Allmendinger came in second place, matching his career- best Sprint Cup finish, being .663 seconds behind Busch.

Sunday’s Sprint Cup win was Busch’s first of the season and 35th of his career. Going into the weekend Busch was 0-30 in racing for the coveted clock trophy, but after winning two, he says it was really cool to win and finally be able to take a clock home even if people didn’t think he deserved it.
Next Up in NASCAR will be the Duck Commander 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on April 9 at 7:30 p.m.
