Today starts the road the a four-peat for the Florida Gator gymnastics team. A core member of this team, Bridget Sloan, will take the floor one last time this weekend looking for the biggest reward in her final meet, a fourth National Championship.
A three-time NCAA champion so far, Bridget Sloan has a resume like no other gymnast:
- Olympic gold medalist in Beijing
- World all-around title
- NCAA titles
- 26 time All-American
- Three time All SEC winner
Sloan now looks to add even more accomplishments to her resume in this weekends NCAA Championships, she will once again be competing all-around for the Gators for the last time.

Head coach Jenny Rowland has only coached Bridget Sloan for one season but has nothing but positive things to say about her. Rowland says it has been a privilege coaching Sloan this year and says she is an incredible competitor: “Absolutely, I think she has been able to accept the challenge, take on the challenge, and has performed to the best of her ability here at the University of Florida.”
Sloan has scored a perfect 10 in every event in a meet to total six collegiate perfect tens in her career. One perfect score that was incredibly special was her last floor routine in the O’Connel Center in front of a nearly sold out crowd. Sloan was the anchor for the floor routines for the Gators against UNC. She nailed her routine receiving a 10 and secured the win for Florida against the Tar Heels. What made the night even better was Sloan’s family standing on the sidelines in tears, watching their daughter perform for the last time in front of the Gator’s home crowd.
You can catch all the action of the NCAA Championships starting at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon on ESPNU.
