Bridget Sloan Will Walk Across the Stage as a Honda Award Recipient

April 29, 2016

Bridget Sloan, along with three other Florida Gator gymnasts, will walk across the stage in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium this weekend and receive their diplomas as college graduates. For Sloan, she will leave the University of Florida with yet another incredible achievement, a Honda Sports Award. This award distinguishes Sloan as the nations top collegiate female athlete in the sport of gymnastics.

Bridget Sloan previously won the same award in 2013 during her incredible freshman season. A Gator gymnast has claimed this prestigious award four of the last five years—Kytra Hunter in 2012 and 2015. This is not the final stop for Sloan’s hardware as she now will qualify to compete to become a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year, which will be presented on June 27 on CBS Sports Network.

  • NCAA All-Around Champion
  • All-American First Team Honors in all five events
  • Sixteen All-American Honors
  • Top All-Around in the NCAA Super Six

There is no doubt Bridget Sloan will leave a legacy like no other in Florida Gator gymnastics. For now, she is just worried about receiving her diploma from the University of Florida in telecommunications.
