The Florida Women’s Track and Field Team won a national championship on Saturday at the 2022 NCAA Indoor National Championship. This is Florida’s Track and Field program’s 11th national championship win and the Women’s second win. The Gators won five individual titles.
Mike Holloway spoke with Steve Russell on Sportscene to discuss the big win. Holloway broke down each day at the Championship and how the women performed.
Grace Stark placed fourth and ran 7.13. Semira Killebrew ran 7.18 and claimed sixth place. Talitha Diggs ran 50.98 which is her new personal record in the 400 meters.
Holloway discussed the expectations of the team and how it is a championship team.
Both Holloway and Russell discuss Jasmine Moore shattering the collegiate record and her drive for the sport.
Jasmine Moore broke records with her triple trump on Saturday. She landed at 14.57m which got her to first place.
The Track and Field team will soon transition to outside competitions. When Russell asked Holloway if the transition from indoor to outdoor competitions was difficult he said it is not a very big transition.
The team heads to Texas to compete in its first outdoor competition on March 23.
