Penguins and Sharks Continue Quest for the Stanley Cup
The San Jose Sharks and the Pittsburgh Penguins will face off in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals Wednesday night. Game 1 ended when Penguins center Nick Bonino made a goal late in the 3rd period, winning the game for the Penguins 3-2 and giving them a one-game lead in the series.

Rookie Bryan Rust scored the Penguins’ first goal of the game but left in the third period with an upper-body injury. Rust is now questionable for the upcoming game. Early in the third period, Patrick Marleau collided with Rust, making contact with the head. Marleau was penalized two minutes for an illegal check to the head, but will receive no supplemental discipline from the NHL Department of Player Safety.

To win, the Sharks will need to rely more on Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski and Brent Burns, who are the top three offensive leaders in the NHL. Joe Pavelski also leads the league in goals. This means the Sharks have a lot of scoring potential and likely won’t give up Game 2 without a fight.
