Michigan Beats Va Tech In Sugar Bowl

January 4, 2012

The Michigan Wolverines complete a magical season under first year coach Brady Hoke with a 23-20 overtime win over Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl on Tuesday night in New Orleans.

The Wolverines complete an impressive 11-2 season under Hoke and get a BCS bowl victory in the process. Michigan won the game on a 37 yard field goal in overtime by Brendon Gibbons to win the tightly played contest. On the Michigan staff is Greg Mattison, the former Gator defensive coordinator who after going to the Wolverines from the Baltimore Ravens completely turned a bad defense into a good one with essentially the sam personnel as a year ago.

Tonight the Orange Bowl is played in Miami as Clemson faces West Virginia.
