Gators Lacrosse Set to Host Loyola

The No. 5 Florida Gators Lacrosse team have been on a hot streak this season with several players earning accolades for their record breaking performances. They will be back in action as they’re set to compete against the No. 8 Loyola at Donald R. Dizney Stadium on Saturday.

Gators 2-0 Run

The Gators (3-2) are coming into the match on a two-game winning streak after defeating Furman and Arizona State last week. They beat Furman 20-9 on Tuesday and claimed a 17-12 win on Sunday against Arizona State.

Two of the Gators lacrosse players earned the American Athletic Conference awards this week for their performances in those games. Emma LoPinto and Emily Heller each were named to the ACC Honor Roll. This is LoPinto’s third honor this season while Heller earned her first.

LoPinto has been dominant on the offensive side having scored eight points total between both games. Six of the eight were unassisted. Following behind her, senior midfielder Heller had five goals, four groundballs and four draw controls to help the Gators advance to 3-2 on the season.

Loyola’s Last Match

The Loyola University Maryland Greyhounds women’s lacrosse team is coming off a win against the Georgetown Hoyas. The Greyhounds had a strong first-half with 10-6 leading into halftime. They went on to close out the game 15-10 with three notable hat tricks from Georgia Latch, Emily Wills and Jillian Wilson.

The Greyhounds had a 22-7 draw control versus the Hoyas. Wilson had a game-high 12 draw control to help the Greyhounds advance to 5-0 on the season.

What’s Next?

The stage is set as the Florida Gators look to defend home field on Saturday in a high-powered Top-10 match up. The Gators will look to snap the No. 8 Loyola’s five game winning streak. Opening draw is slated for noon.
