Gators Lacrosse beats Cincinnati

Saturday, the Gators Lacrosse team hosted the Cincinnati Bearcats in their conference home opener. Florida opened up a huge first-quarter lead and never looked back, eventually winning 20-5.

First Quarter

The Gators Lacrosse team got off to a blistering start in the first quarter. Florida scored their first goal in only 41 seconds as Emily Heller netted her 16th of the season. The Gators scored the first three goals of the game before Cincinnati answered. The Bearcats called a timeout around the halfway point of the quarter following the sixth goal by Florida. The Gators continued their scoring barrage, going into the first break with an 11-1 lead. Among Florida’s goal scorers were Maggi Hall and Danielle Pavinelli who each scored their 20th goal of the year.

Second Quarter

While it took some time for the first goal of the second quarter to come, Emma LoPinto netted one six minutes in. Cincinnati answered with their own score with under three minutes to play before half. The second quarter proved to be a defensive battle with only one goal each. The Gators took a 12-2 lead into halftime.

Third Quarter

After a quick Cincinnati goal, the Gators put in three in a row in quick succession including another for Danielle Pavinelli. Following a couple more scores for each team, Gators Lacrosse took a 16-4 lead into the fourth quarter.

Fourth Quarter

The Gators wrapped up the game with a relatively quiet fourth quarter, scoring four more goals. Florida won their first conference game of the season by a final score of 20-5.
