Florida track and field completed the first meet of its outdoor season on March 23-24 at the Florida State Relays in Tallahassee, Fla. UF’s four event victories all arrived on the second day of competition.

Day One
Florida’s throwers and jumpers headlined the first day of competition. UF performed well in the shotput. Thea Jensen’s 14.86-meter toss was good enough for fourth place in the women’s competition. Logan Montgomery placed second in his outdoor debut with a 17.86-meter throw.
In her collegiate debut, Imani Washington earned fifth place in the women’s hammer throw.
The Gators competed in the high jump to wrap up day one. Corvell Todd finished third on the men’s side, while UF earned the fourth through sixth spots in the women’s challenge.

Day Two
The Gators recorded their first win of the outdoor season thanks to Devin Willis’ efforts in the men’s javelin. Willis’ throw checked in at 58.03 meters, giving him the event title in his collegiate debut.
The women’s squad’s first title appeared in the 800-meter race. Ashley Klingenberg completed the race in two minutes, 11.69 seconds.
UF also dominated both 1,500-meter events. Cavan Wilson set a new personal best in the race, finishing first in 3:52.31. Kathryn Nohilly crossed the finish line first on the women’s side in 4:25.26.
While the Gators did not win the event, four athletes finished inside the top five in the 110-meter hurdles.

What’s Next?
Florida will host its next two outdoor meets starting with the Pepsi Florida Relays from March 31 to April 1 and the Tom Jones Memorial from April 14-15.
