Gator Soccer Loses SEC Tournament Final; Sports News And Notes

A lot going on in sports on this Monday edition of Sports News And Notes…

  • Auburn has won the SEC Soccer Tournament after beating Florida 3-2 on Sunday. Florida is now 16-7 on the year and awaits its NCAA fate to be announced this afternoon. Auburn, as a number seven seed, is the lowest seed to ever win the SEC Tournament.
  • Tony Stewart wins the NASCAR race in Fort Worth, Texas, his second straight win, in the Chase For The Cup. Stewart beat Carl Edwards and those two are fighting it out for the Cup title. Edwards leads Stewart by just three points with a couple of races left.
  • The Gator volleyball team sweeps Ole Miss on Sunday as it improves to 19-5 overall and to 12-3 in the SEC. The Gators still trail SEC leaders Tennessee and Kentucky and now hit the road for its next two matches at LSU and Arkansas.
  • LSU is still the BCS leader after beating then number two Alabama 9-6 in overtime on Saturday. Oklahoma State moves into the second spot as Alabama falls one notch to number three. Stanford is fourth and Boise State is fifth.
