Keys To A Gator Football Victory Over Georgia
The Gator football team tries to end a three game losing streak tomorrow when it plays annual rival Georgia in Jacksonville…here are our Keys To A UF Victory…
- John Brantley’s Health. If the senior is fully recovered or recovered enough from his high ankle sprain, this should give a big boost to what has been a lethargic Gator offense. The return to health of running backs Mike Gillislee and Jeff Demps, wide receiver Andre Debose and lineman Dan Wenger should also help. But Brantley is the key; he knows the offense and he has played well when healthy.
- Cause Some Turnovers. The Gator defense has not caused a turnover in the last three games and Florida is last in the SEC in turnover margin at minus 7 while Georgia is at plus 5. If the offense continues to struggle, it would be nice to have the defense give it some help by creating turnovers and field position for some cheap points.
- Handle Murray. While Georgia does have a decent run game, the motor that makes the offense run is sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray, who was bad against Florida in the first half last year and brilliant in the second. Murray kind of has a gunslinger mentality and he is prone to throwing some balls into coverage, but he still should be a major challenge to the Gator secondary.
- Stay In Georgia’s Head. We all know what Florida’s record is against Georgia over the last 20 years or so, and many believe head coach Mark Richt plays and coaches differently when playing Florida and that has not created much success for the Bulldogs. Can Florida stay in the minds of Georgia, its players and its fans? If so, this could be a nice psychological advantage.
Enjoy the game!
