Weis Says Brantley Closer To Starting; Pleased With His Progress
University of Florida offensive coordinator Charlie Weis says he is pleased with what quarterback John Brantley has been able to do in practice this week as he continues to recover from a high ankle sprain he received against Alabama.
Weis says Brantley’s ankle has held up so far in practice but he would not go far as to say he is definitely going to start against Georgia. While Weis says Brantley has shown the physical ability this week to run the offense, he also knows something could happen to set Brantley back and in preparation for that he is giving reps to freshmen quarterbacks Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel as well.
Weis also said that if Brantley cannot go that Brissett would be the starter. Weis had praise for both of them after watching tape and said they “ are the future” for Florida at the quarterback position.
