Gator Hoops Ranked In Coaches Top 10; Sports News And Notes

The Gator men’s basketball team is ranked 10th in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll released Thursday. The Gators started last season ranked number 11 in the poll.

North Carolina is preseason ranked number one, followed by Kentucky, Ohio State, Connecticut and Syracuse. Duke is sixth followed by Vanderbilt, Louisville, Memphis and the Gators.

The Gator soccer team rallies to beat Arkansas 2-1 in overtime on Thursday to get a key win in SEC play. Florida started the night in four way tie for first place in the SEC with a 6-2 mark that now goes to 7-2. Florida will host LSU Sunday.

Buchholz High School’s football team is still winless on the year (0-8) after losing to Tallahassee Chiles at home 45-34. Tonight, there are several key district matchups including GHS at Ocala Vanguard and Santa Fe at North Marion.

Florida’s football game with Furman on November 19th will begin at 1pm in Gainesville and be available on pay per view.
