Florida Gators Volleyball Takes on the Auburn Tigers Friday
Florida Gators volleyball takes on the Auburn Tigers this Friday at the O’Connell Center as it continues SEC play.
Florida dominates the overall meeting between the two teams. In the 60 times the two have faced each other, the Gators have an overall record of 57-3 against the Tigers. Only one of the losses occurred at home. In the two matchups during the 2024 season, the Gators won both and dropped only one set.
So far in conference play, Florida is 1-1 with a five-set loss to Mississippi State and a win over Alabama. The Gators have an overall record of 6-5.
In the loss to Mississippi, the Gators took the Bulldogs to five sets, recording 66 total kills to the Bulldogs’ 56. Texas transfer Jordyn Byrd led the attack with 17 kills, followed closely by Jaela Auguste with 16. Setter Alexis Stucky led the defense with 16 digs, with Libero Lily Hayes recording 15. The Gators also recorded 52 errors across the five sets.
In the team’s most recent game against Alabama, the Gators won 3-1 with multiple standout players. Freshman Milica Vidacic tallied 18 kills. Stucky also recorded a season high with 53 assists.
However, Byrd stood out as she recorded a career high of 24 kills. She was also named to the AVCA’s 2025 Division I Player of the Year Award Watch List.
“We can’t go in having a big head, we just have to continue to move on to the next opponent, which is Auburn,” Byrd said following the Alabama win.
On the other side of the net, the Auburn Tigers currently stand at 11-2 with a 2-0 record against SEC opponents. The Tigers have also taken on Mississippi State and Alabama, sweeping both teams.
The Gators have proven to be a force in the SEC with 25 total regular-season titles, all under former head coach Mary Wise. The team’s last title came in 2022.
Coverage begins Friday at 6:45 p.m. here on WRUF.
