Thomas Haugh Joins 1,000-Point Club for Florida Men’s Basketball

February 25, 2026

Thomas Haugh is more than a kid from Pennsylvania who grew up loving the Gators — he is the newest member of Florida’s 1,000-point crew.

Haugh, a 22-year-old junior, became the 59th Gator to eclipse the mark on an alley-oop layup from Alex Condon with 15:02 left in the first half. He is having the best season of his collegiate career, averaging 17.3 points per game. Haugh went from averaging just 3.9 points in his freshman campaign to 9.8 as a sophomore.

He played an integral part in Florida’s 2024-25 national championship run, mainly as a bench player. While serving as the Gators’ sixth man, he was the only player to score in all 40 games.

Haugh has started every game this season and made the most of the opportunity. The forward opened his third year with a 27-point outing against Arizona on Nov. 3. He went on to post eight 16-plus point games ahead of conference play.

If his 17.9 points per game when facing SEC opponents wasn’t enough, Haugh shot at a 44.8% clip during the 14-game span.

Condon, Haugh’s forward counterpart and roommate, surpassed 1,000 points just eight days prior. Condon sat 38 points away from the accolade ahead of the Gators’ Feb. 11 win against Georgia, while Haugh remained 59 out.

While the latter was previously unaware of how close the two were to the mark, he said it would add a friendly competition for the pair.

“Right around each other, wow,” Haugh said Feb. 10. “I guess we’ll have a race to see who can get it first.”

Condon nabbed 1,000 points just two games ahead of Haugh. Although, the two will remain next to each other in Florida’s record books. Haugh’s 20 points against the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday left him just one shy of the record.

“It’s a little edge I have over him,” Condon said. “He’s had a good season, but I got 1,000 points first.”

Before either of the juniors could reach history, Water Clayton Jr. achieved the feat a season ago.

Clayton reached 1,000 points on Feb. 8, 2025, in Florida’s 90-81 victory against Auburn. The game marked Clayton’s first that season having played all 40 minutes.

Will Richard, now with the Golden State Warriors, surpassed 1,000 points on Jan. 22, 2025, in Florida’s one-point win against South Carolina.

While both Clayton and Richard transferred into Gainesville following their sophomore and freshman years, respectively, Haugh and Condon have been Gators from the jump.

Now, the pair will head into the final three-game stretch of the 2025-26 season ahead of the SEC Tournament in Nashville.
