Florida Gymnastics Enters Final Regular Season Meet With Kentucky
Florida gymnastics is riding major momentum into its next meet against Kentucky after climbing to No. 3 in the country. The Gators made the jump following a statement performance against No. 2 LSU, in which Florida posted a 198.45 team score — the highest score in the nation this season.
Florida’s lineup delivered standout routines across multiple events during the meet. Selena Harris-Miranda led the charge, earning a perfect 10.0 on beam and finishing with a 39.85 in the all-around, capturing both the beam title and the all-around crown. Her routine anchored a dominant Gators beam rotation, which posted a 49.700 event total. Skye Blakely and Kayla DiCello also continued to serve as the program’s backbone. Both gymnasts frequently post scores in the 9.9 range on bars, beam and floor to help sustain the Gators’ momentum across rotations, and Blakely earned her first collegiate 10.0 on Sunday.
The Gators also continued to build their score throughout the night, finishing strong on floor with a 49.75 team score, the school’s highest event total of the meet. Consistency across the lineup helped the Gators edge LSU’s 198.325 and secure one of the most impressive results of the season so far.
Now the Gators turn their attention to No. 22 Kentucky, another SEC opponent with several standout gymnasts of its own. The Wildcats have relied heavily on Raena Worley, one of the top all-around competitors in the conference, who regularly posts team-leading scores across all four events. Kentucky’s lineup is capable of putting up big numbers on floor and beam, making it a team that could potentially challenge the Gators prior to the SEC tournament.
For Florida, the focus will be on maintaining the same level of precision and execution that produced its season-high score against LSU, which was a crucial victory for its confidence entering this final stretch. With postseason competition approaching, every meet becomes increasingly important as teams continue to build momentum ahead of the championship tournament.
The Gators will look to carry their recent success into their matchup with Kentucky as the road to nationals continues.
