Seven Gator Gymnasts Earn All-SEC Honors
After winning the SEC Gymnastics Championship on Saturday night, the Gators’ conference success continued to pour in. Sophomore Skye Blakely was named one of three SEC Specialists of the Year and six other Gators earned All-SEC honors.
After suffering an Achilles injury at the 2024 Olympic Trials, Blakely was limited to only appearing on bars her freshman season. She came back this year and competed in the all-around four times for the Gators and on bars and beam every week, earning her first perfect score on beam.
Blakely achieved several impressive feats throughout the season. She was named SEC Specialist of the Week twice and earned the Inside Gymnastics National Gymnast of the Week honor in early February after winning all three events she competed in against Arkansas.
She has 10 event titles this year, the second most on the team in trailing only senior Selena Harris-Miranda.
At the SEC Championship meet, Blakely posted two collegiate highs: 9.975 on bars and 9.9 on vault. She earned All-SEC Honors for the all-around, vault, uneven bars, and balance beam events. Blakely shares the SEC Specialist of the Year award with Missouri’s Hannah Horton and LSU’s Kaliya Lincoln.
Six other Gators earned All-SEC honors, awarded to gymnasts whose scores rank among the top four in each event.
Junior Kayla DiCello is one of two gymnasts in the SEC to earn honors on all five events, after a second place all-around finish with a 39.725. Junior Danie Ferris earned honors for both events she competed on, posting a 9.875 on both vault and floor. Fellow junior Anya Pilgrim also received honors for both of her events, vault and bars.
Harris-Miranda scored a 10 on bars to win the event and earned honors on bars, beam, floor and the all-around. Seniors eMjae Frazier and Riley McCusker also earned honors on bars, with Frazier adding a floor honor.
The Gators will head to regionals in Tempe, Ariz., next week and begin competition April 2. The top two teams will advance to Fort Worth, Texas for the NCAA Championships April 16-18, where a national champion will be crowned.
