Florida Softball Back On Road Against Stetson
Recovering from a series loss against then-No. 9 Arkansas in Fayetteville last weekend, No. 7 Florida softball stays on the road for a rematch Wednesday against Stetson in DeLand.
In a surprisingly close contest against the Hatters last week in Gainesville, the Gators came out victorious with a 3-2 decision.
During that game, Jocelyn Erickson was one of the Gators’ most impactful players with a fifth-inning RBI double that left her a home run short of the cycle.
Florida (33-4) tied the game at 2 in the third inning after Taylor Shumaker singled and Erickson drove her home with her first triple of the season.
After a hit-by-pitch and a single, Keagan Rothrock got back-to-back strikeouts to earn the victory for the Gators.
The Gators lead the NCAA in doubles (79) and rank in the top five in batting average (.378), hits (385), home runs (76), RBI (312) and runs scored (325).
Erickson also enters Wednesday’s game two RBIs short of 200 for her career with a chance to become the sixth Gator all-time to reach the mark.
In this rematch, the Gators are hoping to get their ninth straight win against in-state opponents this season while also getting their 14th straight win against Stetson (22-14), a streak dating to the 2006 season.
First pitch is at 6 p.m. at the Stetson Softball Complex on ESPN+
