Jon Sumrall Flips 2027 Four-Star Commit for Gators
Florida added another major piece to its 2027 recruiting class after four-star cornerback Aamaury Fountain flipped his commitment from South Carolina to the Gators on Saturday.
The 6-foot-3 defensive back from Northside High School in Warner Robins, Georgia, is ranked as the No. 17 cornerback in the 2027 class, according to On3. Fountain made the switch after multiple trips to Gainesville this spring, including to the Orange and Blue Game.
The connection with head coach Jon Sumrall and defensive backs coach Brandon Harris played a huge role in the flip. Fountain said the staff consistently showed him that he was a priority.
“He’s shown me he wants me, not just with words, but with actions,” he told Rivals.
The environment in Gainesville also stood out during the recruiting process.
“I love it down there,” Fountain said. “It’s a different feeling. You can’t fake how I feel at Florida.”
Fountain is still relatively new to the position. He spent his first two high school seasons at quarterback before moving to cornerback as a junior.
In 2025, he recorded 32 tackles, four interceptions and one forced fumble, showing the ball skills and instincts that make him one of the top defensive backs in his class.
Fountain said the atmosphere in Gainesville stood out during his visits.
“This is it for me,” Fountain said. “Florida is where I want to be.”
The commitment adds to a growing 2027 class for Florida, which has continued to gain momentum under Sumrall as the program looks to rebuild.
