Florida Softball Jumps to No. 7 in Week 11 Poll
Florida softball has dominated its competition since the season began, and this past week was no different. The Gators made the trip up to Columbia, South Carolina over the weekend and walked out with a series sweep of No. 24 South Carolina.
Those wins, along with a 4-1 midweek victory over South Florida helped jump Florida to No.7 in Softball America’s Week 11 Top 25. This is the 11th consecutive top-10 ranking for the Gators, dating back to last season’s Week 11 poll.
Junior pitcher Keagan Rothrock headlined the weekend, tossing a seven-inning no-hitter in game one against the Gamecocks. This was Rothrock’s third no-hitter of her career, and her first against an SEC opponent.
The Gators carry a five game win streak into the coming week, preparing for a four game homestand. They will face Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday, followed by a weekend series against Auburn. The Tigers have dropped nine consecutive games and sit in 14th in the SEC at 2-13 in conference play.
Florida looks to continue this success down the stretch, sitting in third in the SEC with two conference series left to play before the SEC tournament in Lexington.
