Oak Hall Lacrosse Claims District Title with Rout of Maclay

April 16, 2026

Oak Hall girls lacrosse are district champions.

The Eagles offense dominated Thursday in a blowout victory over the Maclay Marauders 21-6 for their sixth consecutive win.

After falling behind on a Marauders (8-7) goal in the opening minute, the Eagles (9-5) responded fast, scoring three goals in just over two minutes, including two from captain Isla Montes.

“She’s been a leader since day one,” Eagles coach Georgiano El Semarani praised. “Every game she’s calling for the ball … making the right plays.”

The Marauders put a second goal past sophomore goalie Savannah Loges with 4:31 left in the first quarter to cut the deficit to one, but the Eagles fired back in the same frame, scoring three in the final 2:06 to give Oak Hall a 6-2 lead.

The Eagles exploded for five consecutive goals to start the second, including  junior Colbie Johnson’s third and fourth goals. She highlighted her teammates as a crucial piece in her goal scoring.

“My teammates were very hyped up,” Johnson said. “Having those people around you makes it very fun to play.”

The two teams traded goals in the final minutes, and the Eagles took a 12-4 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the game slowed down, with a goal drought of over four minutes until Jonson broke through with her fifth goal of the game to extend the Eagles’ lead.

The two teams went back and forth as the third quarter wound down, with the Eagles leading 17-6 entering the fourth quarter.

Oak Hall added four in the final frame to finish with a 21-6 win.

Johnson and Montes led the way for the Eagles, combining for 11 of the team’s 21 goals. They stepped up this year, with a mass departure of talent from last season’s roster.

The Eagles will need this new roster to continue its hot streak, with the team earning an automatic bid to regionals.

“It was very fun to experience this with a new set of people and coaches,” Johnson said.
