Florida Women’s Basketball Lands Former Syracuse Forward Aurora Almón
Gators Women’s Basketball has announced yet another addition to their 2026-2027 roster. The team received its sixth commitment of the offseason Tuesday in former Miami and Syracuse forward Aurora Almón.
Almón joins Jordan Jones, Moriah Murray, Mallory Miller, Vanessa Harris and Taliyah Parker as the new players joining the Gators under new head coach Tami Reiss.
The 6-4 forward from the Dominican Republic was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, helping The Webb School to its third straight Division ll-A state championship in 2023.
After reclassifying to enroll at Miami a year early, Almón proceeded to take a medical redshirt her 2023-2024 season, and returned to the court the following year as a reserve for the Miami Hurricanes.
Almón scored in nine of the 15 games she appeared in with the Hurricanes, averaging 1.3 points and 1.7 rebounds.
She transferred to Syracuse the following season, where she played 29 games. For the Orange, Almón averaged 1.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
During her collegiate career so far, Almón has averaged 12.9 rebounds per 40 minutes, including 6.6 on the offensive glass.
Almón has also competed on the international stage in the 2019 Centrobasket U17 Women’s Championship for the Dominican Republic, where they won a bronze medal.
