Jadan Baugh Eclipses 2,000 Rushing Yards in Dominant Performance

Florida running back Jadan Baugh’s third-quarter touchdown put him on an elite list of Gator running backs.

The 6-yard touchdown run that pushed the score to 45-14 helped Baugh eclipse 2,000 rushing yards for his career. The four-play, 75-yard drive was fueled by Baugh’s 61-yard run prior to hitting the career milestone.

“Feels good. Honestly I just want to keep going, though,” Baugh said.

Baugh’s day ultimately finished with three touchdowns and 160 yards on 14 touches — production that once again validated Sumrall and offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner’s approach of leaning on their star back at every opportunity.

“I tell Bust [Faulkner] all the time, you don’t know what to do, you just hand it to No. 13 [Baugh],” Florida coach Jon Sumrall said.

Of all the running backs to suit up for Florida, only 20 have hit 2,000 career rushing yards; a handful have cleared 3,000, and the lone Gator at 4,000 was Errict Rhett, who finished his career with 4,163.

Baugh’s 160 rushing yards Saturday puts him on pace for 1,920 yards this season — a total that, combined with what would place him third all time in career rushing yards at Florida, just behind Emmitt Smith and Rhett.

Even after leaving the game, Baugh’s presence on the sideline stood out to his head coach.

“I have a great appreciation for late in the game when he [Baugh] wasn’t in,” Sumrall said. “Seeing his excitement for his teammates says a lot about him.”
