No. 10 Florida Volleyball Faces Road Test at FSU

No. 10 Florida volleyball looks to extend its five-match winning streak Friday night when its takes on Florida State at Tully Gymnasium in Tallahassee.

The Gators’ lone loss in their 7-1 campaign came at then-No. 5 Wisconsin in a five-set thriller on Sept. 2. So, playing on the road is another test. 

The Gators come into this matchup behind strong offensive performances by outside hitter Kamryn Chaney and middle blocker Alec Rothe. Chaney has 107.5 points and 96 kills on 210 total attacks this season, while Rothe has 36 blocks and 87 points.

Both squads have met 65 times since 1985, with the Gators leading the series 46-21. Florida won the teams’ last meeting in Gainesville in 2024. The Gators also hold a three-match win streak in the series, winning eight of their last 10 against the Seminoles, but are only 16-11 away from the O’Connell Center.

The Seminoles are coming into this match carrying a chip on their shoulder. They hold a 5-4 record following a bounce-back win against North Alabama. 

FSU will lean on outside hitter Kyleene Filimaua to outpace the red-hot Gators. She leads the Seminoles with 137 kills, 163.5 points and 17 aces.
