Florida Volleyball Eyes Eight-Game Win Streak

No. 8 Gators volleyball is set to begin SEC play on the road Sunday against Oklahoma after finishing non-conference play on a high note.

Florida swept Jacksonville in three sets to improve to 9-1 , its best since 2023, and a seven game win-streak. Their only loss was at No. 5 Wisconsin after a hard-fought five-set matchup. 

Now, as the Gators turn their attention to SEC play, coach Ryan Theis said the team will focus on consistency and sideout.

Leading the attack is third-year setter Taylor Parks, who has helped Florida keep opponents guessing with an offense that uses hitters from different spots across the court. She has help from Kamryn Chaney, who leads the team in kills, and Alec Rothe, who has made an impact at the net as the team’s leader in blocks.

“We’re running a lot of different routes, hitters swinging from different spots on the court and changing it up,” Parks said. “I think it makes it a lot harder for opponents since you never know who we’re giving it to or where they’ll be on the net.”

The Gators have also been strong defensively, led by libero Lily Hayes, who made history last season by becoming the first true freshman to open a season in a libero jersey for Florida since 2006. 

Despite an impressive team lineup, the Gators will have their work cutout for them with their remaining schedule. 

They will take on No. 3 Kentucky, No. 7 Texas, and No. 16 Texas A&M, among other conference opponents. They will also welcome Tennessee for their first home SEC matchup. The Lady Vols team ended Florida’s run in the SEC tournament last season.

With SEC play officially underway, Florida will look to carry the momentum from its 9-1 start into the toughest stretch of the season. Their first matchup will be Sunday 3 P.M. in Norman, Oklahoma.
