Update: Florida’s Vernell Brown III Ruled Out Against South Carolina
Florida wide receiver Vernell Brown III is out for the second week in a row when Florida takes on South Carolina at home.
Brown was injured at Florida’s last home game against Ole Miss on Sept. 26. He sat out during the Gators’ loss to Missouri. UF coach Jon Sumrall said earlier Brown’s return would be dependent on how he felt.
“Medically, nothing is going to hold him other than his own readiness,” Sumrall said. “We have to see how he responds and how he feels ready to go.”
The sophomore is Florida’s only player listed on the injury report. Running back London Montgomery, safety Bryce Thornton and cornerback Dijon Johnson were taken off Friday’s SEC report after being featured on the first release Wednesday.
South Carolina has eight players out, including defensive backs Quay’sheed Scott, Jalewis Solomon, edge rushers Kobby Sakyi-Prah and Julian Walker, wide receiver Jayden Sellers, offensive linemen Carter Miller and Josiah Thompson and defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy.
Gamecocks star edge rusher Dylan Stewart is expected to play after serving a one-game suspension. Stewart received the suspension after punching Alabama tight end Josh Ford in their Week 4 matchup.
