Oak Hall Football Seeks Bounce Back Against St. Joseph’s Academy

October 16, 2026

Oak Hall looks to turn an extra week of preparation into a bounce-back win when it hosts the St. Augustine St. Joseph’s Academy Flashes at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Eagles (4-2) are out to rebound after scoring a season low in a 42-6 loss to Jacksonville Christ’s Church Academy on Oct. 2.

Oak Hall’s game last week at the Jacksonville Old Plank Christian Academy Defenders was canceled due to weather conditions.

The Flashes (4-4) enter tonight’s game at Oak Hall Stadium riding momentum after the 43-6 victory last week against Orlando West Oaks Academy.

Oak Hall coach RJ Fuhr said the Eagles’ preparation this week included full-contact drills and spirited exchanges between teammates.

“It’s kind of good to see them get fired up,” he said.

Although these two teams haven’t met this season, they have faced similar foes and their fates have unraveled similarly.

Both have fallen to the Branford Buccaneers and the CCA Eagles while adding wins against the Jacksonville Bishop Snyder Cardinals.

Outcomes tell a story, with the margin of victory being larger for the Eagles, while the Flashes kept their losses closer.

Against the Buccaneers, the Flashes lost by 22 points while the Eagles suffered a 32-point defeat. This is also evident against CCA, where the Flashes lost by 27 and Oak Hall by 36.

On the other hand, against the Cardinals, the Eagles celebrated a 30-point win, while the Flashes won by 21.

Both teams were scheduled to share a fourth opponent in OCPA. While Oak Hall’s game was canceled, the Flashes secured a 12-6 win against the Defenders.

The similar results after breaking down their schedules may provide a look at the sheer competitiveness Friday’s game could bring.

The question is whether Oak Hall will see the benefits of having an extra week’s rest thanks to Mother Nature or if missing another opportunity to compete will leave the Eagles at a disadvantage.
