Rolling Florida Volleyball Climbs to No. 4
Florida volleyball climbed a spot to No. 4 in the AVCA rankings Monday following consecutive home wins against LSU and Ole Miss.
The Gators (17-2, 8-1 SEC) overwhelmed the Tigers on Friday 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-14) in the O’Connell Center for their first conquest of the week. On Sunday, Florida beat Ole Miss 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-18) to remain undefeated at home 9-0.
Florida leads the SEC, while LSU is No. 11 and Ole Miss is No. 14.
Undefeated Nebraska (21-0) is still No. 1 in the AVCA rankings.
Kamryn Chaney led the Gators in kills for both matches, swinging for 10 kills against LSU and 13 for Ole Miss. Setter Taylor Parks controlled the offense with 31 assists on Friday and 35 Sunday.
Parks was named SEC Setter and Player of the Week for her performance, the league announced Monday.
“Taylor kind of just knows she can give me any ball in any situation, and I’m going to make a play out of it,” Chaney said after the match against Ole Miss.
The Gators, on a four-match roll, only have six more conference matches, none against ranked opponents, left in the regular season. The SEC Tournament takes place from Nov. 20-24 at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia.
Florida travels to Auburn (12-9, 2-7) for a 7 p.m. Friday match and returns home for Sunday’s 1 p.m. match against Arkansas (10-10, 2-7). Both matches will air on SEC Network+, with Sunday’s play also covered on radio starting at 12:45 p.m. on ESPN 98.1-FM/850-AM.
